Child Care & Early Education Research Connections
Child Care & Early Education Research Connections promotes high quality research and the use of that research in policy making. Through its web site, it offers a comprehensive and searchable collection of research and data resources for researchers, policy makers, practitioners, and others. Research Connections also prepares research syntheses and reviews, shares new materials from collaborations of researchers and policymakers, offers online technical assistance, and welcomes contributions of research, data and other resources.

Education Commission of the States
Within the early childhood financing section of this website, you will find "quick facts", information on what states are doing, state legislative issues related to early childhood financing, programs and practices, and key links and resources that you may find helpful in better understanding what is happening in this field at the state level.

Finance Project
The Finance Project develops and disseminates information, knowledge, tools and technical assistance for improved policies, programs and financing strategies. They have a variety of resources and publications as well as information on projects and services that you may find helpful.

Human Services Policy Center
The Human Services Policy Center at the University of Washington has developed several key projects related to early care and education finance and policy. The website referenced above specifically relates to their project on "Financing Universal Early Care and Education for America's Children". As part of this project, they are analyzing alternative methods of paying for high quality care.

Linking Child Care and Economic Development
Mildred Warner, Ph.D., has been using traditional input/output methodologies to measure the economic impact of the child care industry. Examples of this work, as well as background information and a powerpoint presentation on the topic, are available at this website.

National Association for the Education of Young Children
The National Association for the Education of Young Children has made financing a system of early childhood education one of its top priorities. A policy issue brief, glossary of terms and other resource materials are available on the web. An Interest Forum on Finance with a listserv is offered for members only. Anyone may sign up to receive e-mail policy information and alerts by going to the website, clinking Children's Champions, Action Center, then join e-mail list.

National Economic Development and Law Center (NED&LC)
Within the Children, Youth & Families Division of NED&LC are several projects related to financing which may be of interest. Check out information on their work related to economic impact, local investment, and financing child care facilities.

National Child Care Information Center
The National Child Care Information Center is a great source of information on many different child care-related topics, including finance. The resources are too numerous to list here. Instead, go to the website listed above and do a search on financing. You will quickly see countless wonderful resources to peruse.

Self Help
The nonprofit Center for Community Self-Help and its financing affiliates, Self-Help Credit Union and Self-Help Ventures Fund, comprise one of the nation's leading community development financial institutions. Their mission is to create ownership and economic opportunities for women, minorities, rural residents and low-wealth families. Child care has been a key focus of their work to meet this broader mission and they have developed numerous innovative financing strategies to support their work in this arena. Check out their website for more information about Self-Help's child care revolving loan fund, community facilities fund, and "Stars" child care program.
